Streaming Church

About 2 years ago, I got an email from Justin Graves that I could watch one of his concerts in Arkansas that would be broadcast live on the internet so I tuned in.  While watching I saw the website, Mogulus.com (which is now Livestream.com), listed as the website it was being broadcast through.  I checked it out and realized that I could also broadcast anything I wanted and it was FREE!  Less than a week later we began broadcasting our Segue Monday night services live!  I've often tuned into LifeChurch.tv's online worship services, but never thought this was a realistic possibility for our ministry.  We've never paid a penny and by simply hooking up a video camera to my laptop we broadcast ever Monday for the world to see.  We have had viewers from Brazil, Japan, Germany, Kentucky, New York, and even some in San Antonio with as many as 300 on some weeks.  Since experimenting with this technology, I have become more and more fascinated by the possibilities when it comes to maximizing these resources in furthering the gospel.

A few months ago, I ran across a website: StreamingChurch.tv.  This service seems to be the ideal platform for any church to begin broadcasting their services online with a platform very similar to LifeChurch.tv.  Whether you have 1 camera on a tripod or a multi camera switcher, this platform seems to be extremely easy to use for both the church broadcasting and the watching viewer.  While this isn't cheap ($99/month + $2.25/gig), it's extremely affordable in comparison to other similar options.  The estimated cost/service is $15/service, that's not bad at all when you look at all that covers.

I would love to hear from anyone who is actually using StreamingChurch.tv to hear what you think.  I also encourage you to check out Livestream.com and Ustream.com as FREE options to begin experimenting with this technology.
