It's almost time for one of my favorite events of the year: the iMinistry Conference!  If you are an Online Church Leader or thinking about doing Online Ministry this is the event for you!  The conference is less about listening and more about engaging with some of the brightest leaders I have ever been around.  You will be able to interact with leaders from Seacoast, Saddleback, LifeChurch.tv and more!

Still not sold?  Consider these 5 reasons:

1) Interactivity is Key

The iMinistry Conference is not a conference where you are spoken to from a talking head on stage for 3 days. With our Round Table and Panel format, you will get to hear from a variety of voices and interact with them each day of the conference.

2) You Will Build Lasting Relationships

While the conference is great, it is only 3 days. The relationships you will build are vital throughout the year as you continue to take steps in your ministry. We intentionally build our schedule to provide opportunities to connect during the conference.

3) You Don’t Have to Reinvent the Wheel

You will meet men and women who have been involved in doing Church Online for 5+ years, who you can have up close and personal conversations with and learn from their successes and failures.

4) You Will Meet Like-Minded People

Do you ever go to conferences and wonder who is doing ministry online in the midst of the hundreds or thousands in attendance? If you’re lucky, there will be one breakout session that is kind of related to what you do. This is an ENTIRE conference dedicated to doing church online.

5) Find Your Inspiration for Your Next Step

You will be exposed to new ways of thinking about doing ministry online. It may be exactly what you need to give you that “light bulb moment” to take your ministry to the next level!

I'm confident that you are now ready to register so go ahead and head over to http://iministryconference.org and register now!  I look forward to seeing you there!

After over 6 months of preparation, I'm excited to announce that Online Church Leaders is here! Go to http://OnlineChurchLeaders.com to sign up for your FREE account today!

This has been a labor of love, and I feel so grateful that Community Bible Church has been generous enough to allow me to invest in other churches in this way.  We are essentially giving away all that we have learned about Online Church over the past 4 years in this FREE training program!  It's not just what we have learned at Community Bible Church, but collectively among other friends pioneering this new ministry opportunity from LifeChurch.tv, Saddlback Church, Seacoast Church, Dream Center, and more!

Here are some of the learning portals included in the training:

  • Building Your Platform
  • Creating Your Content
  • Attracting Your Crowd
  • Developing Your Volunteers
  • Online Giving
  • Measuring Success
  • and more!

We have a goal with this platform over the next 2 years to help 500 churches launch an Online Church campus reaching an average of 2,000 each week.  That would be 1 million people a week attending an Online Church!  We believe this is very possible and just a matter of churches understanding the opportunity, embracing the technology, and applying the basic principles lined out here.

Here's what some key Online Churches have said about this new ministry opportunity:

"Saddleback Church’s Online Campus reached over 208 countries/territories this past year with over 2/3 of our viewers non-local. Plus, with over 1,100 groups meeting all over the globe. Through a simple, but well executed Church Online strategy anyone from anywhere can engage with our church." - Jay Kranda from Saddleback Church

“God is using online ministry in very real ways around the world. Our ministry has been extended to people we never would have been able to reach otherwise, and lives are being transformed through the life-giving message of Christ. People who were feeling empty have found hope. People who were lonely have found community. People who were stuck in destructive decisions have found strength to change… all through the power of Christ.” - Alan George from LifeChurch.tv

Without a doubt, OnlineChurchLeaders.com is the most valuable priceless resource that will bring more churches into the 21st century before the 22nd century gets here! Get online already!” - DJ Chuang from the Social Media Church Podcast

The iChurch Method v.2 by Jason Caston

I've thought about what book I would be interested in writing next and I'm going to have to keep thinking as Jason Caston has written what I would consider the best next step after the Social Media Guide for Ministry.  Jason discusses Social Media in this book, but goes far beyond Social Media getting into websites, mobile applications, online church, and so much more.  Take a look at this video:

Jason's book is packed with step by step practical application and the system is applicable for churches of any size or budget.  I really can't recommend this book more.

The Future of Online Church

I'm always asking the question: What's Next?  Since the iMinistry Conference I especially have been asking this question in regards to the future of Online Church.  The vision that I had for 2 years ago looks much different today, and my guess is that it will look much different 2 years from now.  Technology moves fast and we must always keep looking ahead and never get comfortable.

2 years ago I constantly looked at what we do on our physical church campus and tried to figure out how that could translate to our online church.  These were healthy questions and we have done some great things offering Online Worship services and Online LifeGroups just like we do on our physical campus.

Here is the question we are beginning to ask: what can we do online that we can not do on our physical campus?  We don't necessarily have these answers yet, but in asking this question we have developed a new strategy to how we look at our Online Church platform that has been a foundational shift for us:

Our online video content should combine the principles of broadcast television with the purposes of the Church maximizing the interactivity of Social Media.

This is a big shift from what can we video tape on our physical church campus and broadcast on our online church platform?

Here are some of the adjustments we have made recently:

1) 30 minute worship services- our online attention span is shorter and tv networks have found a great system in 30 minute time slots.

2) Less music- we found that people like the worship music, but don't engage well online with a full worship set.

3) Preaching directly to the camera (and shorter messages)- this has probably been the biggest game-changer for us and I can't be more grateful to our preaching pastors for making this commitment to preach an additional (shorter) message directly to our online community.

4) Creating elements in our video content that encourages interaction/engagement via Social Media.  Using the Media Social platform that integrates seamlessly with Facebook has been key for us.

I would love to hear what you see ahead for the future of Online Church and where you might agree or disagree with what we are doing with OnlineChurch.com.

Introducing OnlineChurch.com

Screen shot 2012-10-16 at 5.34.16 PM I'm excited to announce to you that CBC Online has a new home at  OnlineChurch.com!  God has greatly blessed this ministry over the past couple of years and most recently with the opportunity to obtain the domain "OnlineChurch.com."   Mycbconline.com has served our ministry well, but we feel as if  "OnlineChurch.com" will open more opportunities to fulfill our mission to Reach, Teach, and Help people in Jesus’ name.  Mycbconline.com will continue to work as it always has but will serve as a forwarding tool rather than a landing page.  From our Facebook posts, tweets, emails, and all future communication we will be referring to our online platform as Online Church or OnlineChurch.com. We are beyond excited about this new name and new chapter in our ministry and truly feel as if God is at the center of this shift.  It is our prayer that this new domain will make it even easier for you to invite others to join you in worshipping with friends online from all over the world!  We would love for you to celebrate with us tonight starting at 7:00pm (CDT) as we gather for worship and relish in the joy that stems from being in fellowship with one another.

We look forward to what God has in store for us down the road and walking hand in hand with each of you.  Again, welcome to the new OnlineChurch.com!

The Best is Yet to Come!
