...and RightNow Media keeps getting better!

If you have read my blog at all or follow me on Twitter you already know that I'm a big fan of RightNow Media.  This has been an incredible resource to our church and has made me look really good with minimal effort.  I can go on and on about how great their product/service is, but I would rather use this post to go on about how great they are!  This past week I had the privilege of participating in the RightNow Conference and there were three things about the team there that stood out to me:

  1. Their hospitality - they were extremely generous and welcoming to myself and others that I was leading with.  I have attended many conferences and appreciate so much each of them, but the level of personal connection they made in their hospitality was second to none.  There is no doubt in my mind that the people behind RightNow Media are even better than the great product that they offer!
  2. Their innovation - at the conference they announced a new iPhone/iPad app that just released and behind the scenes let me in on some future plans.  Many organizations at this point would ride the wave that they are on without feeling the need to innovate.  RightNow Media feels they are only getting started and are looking to improve their service to churches in every possible way.
  3. Their heart - it might seem like a small thing, but it was meaningful to me to find out that RightNow Media is a nonprofit organization.  Essentially they are a ministry, not a business.  I believe that businesses can do ministry and that this is just a tax status, but this little piece of information only confirmed even more that the heart behind RightNow Media is serving the local church, not profiting from the it.

I'm honored to have been able to participate in the conference this past week and so grateful for the opportunity!  I can't wait for all that lies ahead for RightNow Media and grateful that I have been able to participate even in a small way.

Thank You RightNow Media for serving the church well!

eConnect Conference

I would love for you to join me at the eConnect Conference on January 29-31, 2014 in beautiful Loveland, CO.  Group is hosting this event where we will be discussing how to use online tools for greater ministry impact.  I'm also very excited to be joined by my good friend Jason Caston, author of the iChurch Method v. 1 & 2 and soon to be good friend, Brian Abbott.

At this event we will discuss social media, websites, mobile apps, and how all of these things translate to becoming effective ministry tools.  I can't wait for the conversations that will be had and hope you will be a part.  Click here for more information and to register for this exciting event!

rightnow Media Bible Study Library

For about a year I have been monitoring rightnow Media's Bible Study Library resource, but didn't feel like it was the right time to jump in until now.  To be honest, I waited too long.  I should have jumped in a year ago and would have saved our church financially locking in the price from a year ago and gotten this tool in the hands of our congregation even sooner.  Other than waiting too long, I have no regrets about jumping into rightnow Media's Bible Study library and can't be more excited! About a month ago we began pursuing this option pretty seriously and launched it to our congregation just this past week.  Generally when I release a new technology like this I get nervous about all of the email of technical difficulties and such.  My email did blow up this week, but with very few technical requests.  My email box was filled with thank you messages from congregants thrilled about this new tool.  Before I share more about what I love about the Bible Study Library, take a look at this video:

What an incredible tool rightnow has created for the church and at an affordable rate for EVERY church ( take a look at their pricing guide here)!  Here are some of the things that I really love about this resource:

  • Affordable- I don't know how much your church spends on curriculum, but this tool is not only affordable but will save us money immediately on curriculum expenses.
  • Quality Content- with 2,000+ videos in this library it is packed with quality content from a variety of great publishers.  We actually found that about 80% of our current dvd curriculum library that we have in our library at CBC are included in this video library.
  • Best Tech- the church often is behind when it comes to technology, but this tool truly utilizes the best in technology making videos available to everyone whether they are using a smart phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, or connected tv device.  It's awesome!
  • Availability- getting curriculum in the hands of our members can be very complicated and difficult for us and for them.  This tool truly makes these video resources available to our entire congregation both locally and globally at their convenience (and ours)!
  • Ease of Use- almost everyone is used to Netflix and using this similar model makes it easy for just about everyone to use!
  • The People- as we researched this product and fell in love with it, we found that the people behind the product are even better than the product itself.  Steve Solstad and the others at rightnow are truly the best and passionate about resourcing the church!
If you haven't yet checked out rightnow Media, I hope you won't wait any longer.

The iChurch Method v.2 by Jason Caston

I've thought about what book I would be interested in writing next and I'm going to have to keep thinking as Jason Caston has written what I would consider the best next step after the Social Media Guide for Ministry.  Jason discusses Social Media in this book, but goes far beyond Social Media getting into websites, mobile applications, online church, and so much more.  Take a look at this video:

Jason's book is packed with step by step practical application and the system is applicable for churches of any size or budget.  I really can't recommend this book more.
